Jim Vineyard, LEED AP – Principal

Jim’s experience ranges from schools to office buildings, warehouses and hotel/motels.  With considerable practice in retrofit work, service, commissioning and startup, he brings strong skills for practical application of mechanical systems.  His 30+ years of experience include LEED and energy projects, refrigerated manufacturing and storage and large facility ventilation, heating and air conditioning systems.



Ben Vacca, P.E. – Principal

Ben has a broad range of experience in the industry varying from HVAC and controls engineering to project management and sales.  He has a proven track record of providing cost effective mechanical designs that include several LEED buildings, office buildings, surgery/medical centers, warehouses and assembly/hospitality buildings.  Ben has designed over twenty outpatient surgical facilities and managed the installations throughout the United States.


Brad Vacca, Chief Operating Officer

With over 35 years’ experience in engineering design, construction, and management as Director of Engineering in the corporate world at Ralston Purina, Anheuser-Busch, Earthgrains, Sara Lee, and ConAgra, He brings a unique “Owners” perspective to NBDS.  Brad has managed engineering departments with annual budgets in excess of $100 MM and 15 engineers.  He has worked with equipment manufacturers, general contractors, engineering firms, and machine shops to design and construct sanitary food applications and new production facilities in the US, Canada, and Mexico.  Always conscience of the quality and service that Owners and General Contractors demand, he brings that expertise to NDBS.  Brad’s extensive experience in sanitary food plant design and manufacturing opens new markets for NDBS broadening their product offering.


Jeremy Krueger, P.E., LEED AP – Sr. Project Engineer

Jeremy’s twelve years in the HVAC industry include experience in MEP consulting, equipment sales and design-build construction. Jeremy’s  design background includes work with new and retrofit commercial construction, as well as institutional and historical HVAC renovations.  Jeremy has been involved with the design and construction of several LEED buildings, including a corporate headquarters facility achieving a LEED Gold rating.  Jeremy’s depth of knowledge in HVAC installation and building construction practices has proven to be a valuable asset for our general contractors and simplifies installation for our subcontractors.


Paul Kallestad - Account Executive

Paul has a vast range of experience in the HVAC construction industry, with time spent in project management, service and sales.  With his field presence and knowledge of mechanical coordination and installation practices, he is a valuable partner in assisting our general contractors and subcontractors.  With 30+ years in the industry, Paul brings a practical, cost effective approach to mechanical systems for office buildings, schools, senior living facilities, warehouses and retrofit commercial applications.


Ryan Ott, P.E. - Project Engineer

Ryan has been doing cost effective mechanical design for HVAC design/build contractors since 2008. He has a wide range of design knowledge with a primary focus on outpatient surgical facilities. In addition to doing design for over 30 surgery centers, Ryan has worked on design for office buildings, schools, retail, mental health facilities and libraries.


Laine Brooks - Project Manager

Laine's background is in Architecture and he's currently taking the Architectural Registration exams to become a licensed architect.  Laine has over a decade of experience designing and managing the construction of a broad range of projects including low-income housing, YMCA facilities and Historic Preservation.  He has also overseen the design and construction of energy improvement projects such as lighting and mechanical equipment retrofits in over 600 residential dwelling units.  Laine's experience gives him the capability to oversee a project from conception to close-out while working alongside all trades.


Steve Dell - Project Manager

Steve's 30+ years in the mechanical construction industry provide a wealth of experience to the team at NDBS.  With time spent in sales, production, installation and project management, Steve's been involved in all aspects of the HVAC business.  His knowledge of manpower coordination and systems installation are not only assets and a major contribution to the NDBS team, but to subcontractors and general contractors as well.  Steve's value to the company also comes from a vast array of project experiences that include schools and universities, office buildings, health care facilities, retirement and skilled nursing facilities, defense installations and industrial plants.


Pam Gamache – Office Manager

Pam is responsible for accounting, marketing and administrative tasks at NDBS.  With extensive design-build industry experience her marketing and administrative skills assure our clients of the very best “back office” support.


Traci Vette – Project Administrator

Traci brings 15 years of experience working for General Contractors to the NDBS team.  She entered the industry as a field secretary working on site under Field Superintendents and Project Managers before completing her Associates degree in Construction Technology in 2003.  Her experience in the field includes a wide range of responsibilities, from project materials procurement to final close-out and punch list completion.  Traci has been involved with the construction of automotive plants, residential housing, pharmaceutical laboratories, and commercial and medical facilities.  At NDBS Traci is tasked to provide our Project Managers with detailed, thorough and organized support.


Hayden Sievers - Project Engineer

Hayden recently graduated from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville School of Engineering with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.  While attending university he was a member of the Engineers Without Borders (EWB) and American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).  As part of EWB, he traveled to Guatemala to assess the basic human needs of a village and began the design of a central source of clean water.  As part of ASME, Hayden helped design and race a recumbent tricycle in the ASME Human Powered Competition. He placed in the top four both years he participated.  He has assisted in contracting with HVAC systems of schools throughout central Illinois and has brought a young power and knowledge to the NDBS team.  


Matt Gildehaus, P.E. - Senior Project Engineer

Matt's extensive knowledge of HVAC and process design and construction comes from his 12 years in the HVAC design-build industry. Matt's wide range of experience includes office buildings, large chilled water plants, large steam plants, laboratory buildings, and process utilities design. Most of Matt's projects have been BIM projects with matt leading the coordination effort for the design team. Matt has been involved in the design and construction of several LEED buildings, including a large laboratory building for a local university achieving LEED Gold rating.  


Mike Smith - Senior CAD Designer

Mike's 18 years in the industry have focused on mechanical duct and piping layout and design, as well as CAD and BIM R&D and management. Mike's experience includes healthcare, laboratory, sports & rec, and well as industrial structures. He has been on the BIM implementation and standards committee of several international consultiong engineering firms and is currently creating and implementing BIM standards as well as creating fully coordinated 3D design models for NDBS.

Max Klein - Project Engineer

Max has over four years of experience in HVAC controls from the manufacturing perspective. He has overseen quality in manufacturing and provided technical support for a wide variety of HVAC systems in residential units, office buildings, schools, and churches. With his background in quality control, he brings a strong passion for attention to detail and the understanding that doing it right in the design stage will reduce the need to do it again during the construction stage, saving time and money for NDBS’ clients.

Dan Martin, P.E. - Senior Project Engineer

Dan brings a broad range of mechanical experience to the team.  Since 2008, he has done numerous commercial and industrial HVAC and piping jobs including those in the biopharmaceutical and aseptic / clean room applications, photovoltaic (solar) cell production, food grade environments, commercial printing facilities and multiple steam and hot water boiler and chiller plant designs.  Many involved GMP / cGMP facilities with electrically classified areas and/or ISO clean room requirements.  Also involved in the controls side, Dan has authored many control sequences of operation for boiler plants, chiller plants, cooling tower, dry/fluid cooler systems and commercial building HVAC systems.

Matthew Foster - Account Executive

Backed by 20 years of experience in the mechanical contracting industry, Matthew Foster has an extensive knowledge of conceptual estimating, design, project management, sales and customer relationships.  Prior to working as an account executive, Matthew spent 7 years managing projects nationally and 13 years in business development.  His project related knowledge in office buildings, health care projects, and distribution and manufacturing centers provides valuable experience for his clients.  Key projects include:  Ashely Furniture Distribution Center, Cupples 9 Historic Renovation, Express Scripts Corporate Headquarters, FlightSafety International, and St. Peters Recreation Complex.
